Greetings 8th Grade Families! We are getting down to the last days of your child's 8th grade year. Here are a few reminders/ announcements for the rest of the year: Wednesday, May 29: 8th Grade Awards Mass Please join us for mass at 8:30 a.m. followed by the awards ceremony in the church immediately following mass. This is a choir mass and we will be blessed with the beautiful voices of the school choir under the direction of Mr. Rathje Graduating 8th grade students should come to school in free dress -- liturgical attire please. Young ladies should wear a skirt and blouse or dress, modest shoes, and the girls may wear modest makeup and nail polish for this special day. No strapless dresses or blouses allowed. Spaghetti strap, cami, or tank-style tops must have a jacket or sweater to cover bare shoulders. Young men should wear dark dress slacks, a white button-down dress shirt, and a dark tie. Printed or striped ties are fine. No bow ties, please. These guidelines apply to the graduation prayer service in the church on June 1st as well. ***Students should bring their ironed gowns to school as the graduates will process into the church wearing their graduation gowns. Ladies should wear their white collar; young men have been advised to wear dress shirts. The awards ceremony should conclude at approximately 10 - 10:15 a.m.. At noon, the 8th grade students will attend a special luncheon hosted by the 7th grade class. We thank Ms. Thomasson and the 7th grade parents for celebrating our class! Thursday, May 30: Noon Dismissal—Last day of school for 8th graders This is the official last day of school for 8thgrade. Students are NOT to come to school on Friday during the school day unless they come to help a specific teacher who has agreed to sponsor and supervise the students for the day. Please pick up your 8th grader at 12 noon. You may come to the front office to pick up your child. Graduation Dinner Dance The Graduation Dinner Dance is set for Thursday, May 30th. The room moms will be sending out information regarding this event. Saturday, June 1: Graduation Prayer Service The Graduation Prayer Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 1 at 12:00 p.m. in the church. Students must arrive no later than 11:30 a.m. and report to Room 21 in the school. Immediately following the prayer service, students will return to the front office to pick up their diplomas and final report cards from Ms. Sire and Ms. Child. Students will not return to the classroom after the prayer service, so parents should hold on to jackets and sweaters, purses, etc. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events!
