Greetings Shamrocks!
My name is Araceli Catalan and I am the eight grade homeroom teacher at St. John. I teach science for grades seven and eight and sixth through eighth grade math. I also hold the position of level leader for level three which is comprised of sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
I was born and raised in the small town of Lompoc (pronounced Lom-poke) in central coast California and received my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I was a corps member in the prestigious Teach for America program from 2004-2006 and taught in the South Bronx for two years while obtaining my Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University's School of Education.
I currently reside in Hayward with my husband and my three boys. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing with my boys, and crafting.
I feel truly blessed to be part of this community! The children I teach never cease to amaze and inspire me. I enjoy coming to work every day and seeing my students' smiling faces. One of the things that I love about St. John is how happy the children are here. I have my own "golden rule" philosophy and I "treat my students the way I would want my children to be treated" and I apply that to every aspect of my day. Please feel free to stop by and visit.
Blessings,
Mrs. Araceli Catalan
